Sam Evans – Artistic Director
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Sam Evans graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 2007, singing under Brian Stubbs and Scott Shrimpton. Sam received his Bachelors of Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota in May of 2011. He studied choral conducting with the world renowned composer and conductor, Dr. René Clausen. During college, he performed under the direction of Michael Smith and Dr. René Clausen. During his two years performing with the Concordia Choir, Sam had the opportunity to sing with the British a capella group, The King's Singers, and toured not only across the United States, but also spent three weeks touring South Korea. Sam returned to Grand Rapids in the fall of 2011, and is working as an insurance agent in the family business, Evans Insurance Agency. He and his wife Lenora are happy to be back in this wonderful community, and are excited to have the opportunity to make music with so many wonderful people.
Stuart Boehr – Accompanist
Stuart Boehr recently retired from his position as Director of Worship and Music at Zion Lutheran where he directed the choral and bell choirs, and plays organ and piano for services. Stuart attended in Bethel College and Wichita State in Kansas, as well as the University of Minnesota, with degrees in music and piano performance. He was a finalist in several competitions including the Naftzger Piano Competition and Wichita chapter of American Guild of Organists, with Diane Bish as adjutant. Before moving to Grand Rapids, Mr. Boehr was organist at Richfield Lutheran Church and a Suzuki piano teacher at the Saint Paul Conservatory. He organized four SRO piano galas of multiple pianos and hands.
